Onboarding

Lesson 1• Jul 19, 2024

[Intro] In this lesson, we’ll be introducing how to get started with your Platfio app. Whether you’re setting up your app yourself or it’s already been configured for you, this video will give you a complete overview to help you succeed with your custom application. Let’s get started! Your journey starts with the app emulator. This is where you interact with your app as your users would. You’ll use two main areas: the Manager and the Editor. [Manager page]

The manager helps you manage all the day-to-day operations in your app, from checking on new users, to managing tasks, to responding to chat messages, managing the orders that come into your app, the bookings that come into your app, the subscriptions, and the recurring subscription payments, any form submissions or database entities that are set up in your app. You can send marketing messages via push, email, and SMS. Marketing also includes Promoters, which help grow your app: App Links allow users to open your app on Android, iOS, or the web. The iFramer lets you embed your app into your website. Badges are simple graphics you can place on your site to promote your app. There’s also a point-of-sale system and built-in reporting system. [Editor page] Next is the Editor, where you configure the features of your app: Segments allow you to keep track of which users are which, to break your users into small groups which can then be offered custom discounts or experiences on your app.

Products is where you set up products that can be sold, the bookables is how you set up things that can be booked. Including classes, calendar bookings, and events.

Subscribables is where you set up things that people can subscribe to and make recurring payments.

Forms is where you allow customers to input data which you can then do a variety of things with.

Pages allow you to create the views that we display to our customers that guide them through the things we want them to do in our app.

Tools are things that help engage our customers and keep them coming back to our business.

Automations can be set up to automate aspects of the management of your app, to improve the performance of your business.

Integrations is where you can set up and manage the ways your app connects with other services like Stripe, SendGrid, Twilio, OpenAI and more.

Navigation is where you set up the core navigational tenants of your app. For example, the left-hand side menu, the tab bar, right-hand side menu, the header and the homepage, and which page serves as the homepage of your app.

Theme is where you set up, you know, basic details about your app including images, colors, names, etc.

And finally, Settings is available to refine the behavior of any of these other modules.

In here you can find Locations, which is where you can set up and manage either your single or multiple store information.

This includes what currency you'd like to process transactions in. what your opening hours are, what time zone you maintain support in, etc. [Introducing the two key features] Now, let’s introduce two types of features. The standard feature and the custom-built feature. Standard features are ready-made, like the sign-in page, profile page, and chat page that can be dropped into your app immediately. To add them, go to Editor, then Navigation, and then Left-Hand Side Menu, press Add, select the Sign-In, Profile, and Chat pages, then Save. You can then access them now in the Left-Hand Side Menu. Custom-built features require configuration. For example, to add a product: Go to Products, add a Collection, then add a Product. Add that product or the entire collection to your navigation. The same steps apply for Forms, Bookables, Subscribables, and more: create a collection, add the feature, then place it in the navigation. [How to get help section] Now that you understand how features are added, here’s how to get help: At any time, click the Help icon within the Manager or Editor. You’ll see a short explanation and can access video lessons that go into more detail. The most convenient way to access them however is, let's say you’re working on bookables. If you press help, you’ll see a short snippet of text that may be able to resolve my question if it's simple. Alternatively, you can press lessons and then you'll be able to see the lessons that specifically relate to this module. [Launching the App] Once your app is ready, it’s time to launch. Press the Launch button at the bottom right. This queues your app for deployment. As soon as you press Launch, you can begin sharing your app. Use the app link provided on the launch page to invite users to the web version of your app immediately. As Android and iOS versions go live, their links will appear automatically. Once launched, the Launch button disappears and is replaced by an account menu. [Outro] Thanks for watching. Now that you have an overview of Platfio, continue exploring the feature-specific lessons to help you build the perfect app.
