Subscribables

Lesson 10• May 6, 2024

[Intro] In this lesson we’ll be discussing setting up the subscribables for your app. Let’s get started…

[Editor] To access the Subscribables section. Click on the Platfio editor, then click on Subscribables. You will be directed to the ‘Subscribable Collections Editor’ page where you can manage and organize all your Subscribables for your app.

To add a new collection. Click on the plus icon to access the ‘Subscribable Collection Editor’. Then, we add the Name called Memberships, then press on save.

Once you’ve created a collection, let’s add a new subscribable. Click on the plus sign at the top right.

Then, under the details tab, create a title for the subscribable. Let’s name it General Members, then let’s say the amount is $35, change the interval to a week, and then click on the plus sign to add the subscribable.

Now that we have our subscribable created, we’ll add it to the navigation. Press the helper at the lower right corner and click on the Windows icon. You can then choose where to add the subscribable. This time we will add it to the Left Hand Side Menu.

[Emulator] Next with our Emulator, let's test the susbcribable from the user's perspective.

Open the left-hand side menu.

We will see that the General Members Subscribable we have added is available.

Click on the subscribable you created and then subscribe. You can review the subscription and add in the card details. Let’s click on Checkout. A confirmation message will appear once the subscription is confirmed.

[Manager] Then as an app Manager, to check on the subscriptions created, go to Platfio Manager, then click on Subscriptions to be directed to the Subscriptions Manager.

And then you can click on the tab that shows General members, we can see here all the users that subscribed to this membership.

[Editor] Once we’ve created a membership, the next important step is to add the subscribers to a segment.

Let’s create a segment. To do this, go to Platfio Editor, then click on Segments and you will be directed to the ‘Segment collections editor’ page. Click on the plus icon at the top right, we can name the collection ‘Memberships’ and press on save.

You will be then directed to the ‘Segment Collection Editor’ page, then click on the plus icon at the top right to create a segment. Let’s name it ‘Members’, then click on the plus icon.

Once we have our segment setup. What we’ll do is go back to Subscribables, click on Memberships, then General members, and at the Details tab, we’ll go ahead and add this to the segment we’ve created which is Members, then click Save. So now if someone subscribes, we’re going to make them a member.

If you want to see all the memberships and the past usage of this feature on the profile page.. what we do next is go to Platfio Editor... then Navigation... click on Profile... Then click the plus button beside the Links... and add the Subscriptions.

[Emulator] So if we go to the profile and click on Subscriptions, and we can see that we’re subscribed to General Members, if we click on it, it will show the subscription details and the invoices.

[Editor] To also activate the unsubscribe option for users... go back to the Editor... then subscribables... Memberships... general members... Then on the Restrict tab... toggle on the Allow Self Unsubscribe. Then press on Save.

[Emulator] So if we go back to the Profile and then Subscriptions, we can see here at the bottom the option to Cancel this membership which we’ll go ahead and do. A pop-up will then appear to confirm if you want to unsubscribe and you can also give the reason why. For now let’s just click on Unsubscribe.

[Manager] So next what we can do is go back to General Members, and then Resubscribe. If we go to the Manager… Then in Users… click on the user that subscribed… go to Segments… then Members. We will notice that this user is also automatically added to the Members segment..

If you want to learn more about adding discounts to a subscribed member on a segment please watch our video on Segments Discounts.
